Pedro Serra is a Brazilian journalist and filmmaker with a keen eye for compelling characters and powerful narratives — a skill honed during his six years in the newsroom of Jornal Extra, one of Brazil’s major newspapers. He brings this sensitivity to his documentaries and series, which focus on underrepresented communities, cultural expressions, and environmental issues.
His work has been featured on major Brazilian networks such as Canal GNT, Canal Off, Futura, as well as on PBS in the United States. Pedro has filmed in over 20 countries, always seeking stories that bridge local realities with global themes. Notable projects include the feature-length documentaries Rio Doce: Histórias de uma Tragédia (2017 – 90min – Canal Futura, GNT, and TV Senado) and Fake News: Made in Brazil (Canal Curta), and the documentary series Fly Brother with Ernest White II (PBS – 3 seasons) and Na Terra dos Bichos (Canal Off).
