Pau Canivell graduated in Audiovisual Communication in 2022 at the Pompeu Fabra University and became known with his documentary Tacones Sobre Ruedas, which tells the story of a family made up of drag queens and a trans icon who travel by motorhome to hostile places, with the aim of organizing a performance to demonstrate their support for a child who was attacked by another minor at the gates of his own school. It premiered in December 2022 at Cinemes Girona nationally, and internationally premiered at the Merlinka Festival. The documentary traveled to places such as Belgrade, Boston, Lima, Miami, Utah and Playa del Carmen.
His first fiction short film, Nocturnas (2023), premiered at the Medina Film Festival, and tells the story of a young woman who escapes from her home and redefines her concept of family after seeing a performance in an underground venue.
At the 2023 Venice International Film Festival, he was a jury member of the Giornate degli autori section.
He also works as a drag performer with her alter ego "Emma Mess".
