I enjoy writing screenplays and songs. I made an eight minute "Proof of Concept" video for "Baby Boomers Can Dance" and four music videos which combine Conceptual Art work with the songs. The videos can be viewed upon request by serious producers/investors.
I am also very interested in dancing. The disco ball featured in my movie poster is from the Hot Jazz Club on Main Street in Vancouver, BC, Canada. Sadly, the Hot Jazz Club is no longer there but, before it was shut down, I spent many enjoyable evenings dancing to live band music on it's wooden floor. Many great musicians played at the Hot Jazz Club. I acquired the ball from a friend who bought it when the club closed. When I look at the ball, I imagine all the great musicians mirrored in it over the many years it hung in the center of the club's ceiling.
I was originally inspired to start writing screenplays when I attended Vancouver Film School during my summer break from teaching school. I really enjoyed the course so the following summer I took more courses at VFS.. My courses include 'Screenwriting', 'Make Up' and 'General Film Making' focusing on acting and simple video rendering.
I wanted to write a musical, so I started taking lessons in playing the guitar. I use the guitar as my instrument for composing my songs. I am very interested in percussion guitar which involves using parts of the guitar as a drum. I am now trying to perfect my 'flamenco strum'.
I own four guitars. I have an old Decca which has "Mother of Pearl" inlay around the sound hole, two "Godin" acoustic parlor guitars, one of which is electric, and a steel string Sigma Martin guitar.
My Martin guitar was a real find. I was walking by a Thrift Store on Fourth Avenue in Vancouver one day and I saw it in the window. I went inside to ask the price and couldn't believe the store only wanted $125 for it. I bought the guitar on the spot. Later that day, I was holding my Martin guitar by the neck as I walked to my guitar lesson. A tall man who looked like a musician asked me if he could buy it. I declined his offer but, I have to admit, I am very curious to know how much he would have been willing to pay for it.
After seeing some old "Country and Western" movies which featured guitars covered in rhinestones, I decided to decorate my guitars. I have used multi colored sequins to decorate all my guitars. Recently I was asked if I would consider decorating someones' guitar for a music video they were making.
Generally, I enjoy many forms of creative expression. Life is good when I have a play to write, a song to sing, or a guitar to decorate.
Music and Laughter are two of Life's greatest gifts.
I hope you enjoy my Musical Comedy, "Baby Boomers Can Dance".
