BIOGRAPHY

Pietro Durante is a filmmaker, TV director and scriptwriter living in Rome. His tireless search for new forms of expression brought him to range over a wide variety of artistic languages, from theatre to television, making large use of different techniques like the “clay motion” and “stop motion”. He counts several collaborations in the making of independent shortfilms, theatre and music videos for Italian artists. At the moment he is working mainly for the State television (Rai), where he directs the exterior shots for entertainment and information programs.

Tutti I colori del bianco e nero (“All the colors within black and white”, commissioned by UNICEF and shoot in clay motion)
Strisce (“Stripes”, winner of the “Videorome” prize for the festival "Arcipelago 2001"

Libero nel nome is his first movie, a docufilm on the outstanding figure of Libero Grassi (the first businessman saying no to Mafia racket in Sicily) and on his priceless legacy.

BIOGRAFIA

Pietro Durante è un regista romano. Ha lavorato in teatro e collaborato a cortometraggi indipendenti a New York. Oggi lavora prevalentemente per la televisione, per la RAI è regista nel settore dell'intrattenimento e dell'informazione, ma ha realizzato vari cortometraggi cinematografici.

La sperimentazione e la ricerca di nuovi linguaggi hanno caratterizzato gran parte dei suoi lavori. Molti cortometraggi con la tecnica della "clay motion", tra questi anche “Tutti i colori del bianco e nero” per l’UNICEF. In video, "STRISCE" vincitore del premio "Videorome" del Festival "Arcipelago 2001" e “Ssst” selezionato alla 60a Mostra Internazionale d'Arte Cinematografica di Venezia nel 2003 nella sezione “Nuovi Territori”. Alcuni video musicali per vari artisti italiani.

“Libero nel nome”, film dedicato alla figura di Libero Grassi, è il suo primo lavoro nel cinema documentario trasmesso sia da RAI2 che da Canale5.
