The Philadelphia Latino Arts & Film Festival (PHLAFF) is committed to uplifting emerging and established Latine/x/a/o creatives and filmmakers by showcasing the richness, complexity, and cultural breadth of our communities. Through a year-round constellation of programs, PHLAFF advances cross-cultural dialogue, fosters inclusive storytelling, and contributes to a more equitable cultural landscape.
PHLAFF exists for us—by us. We’re a cultural home for Latine/x/a/o creatives and audiences to share stories, connect across generations, and dream new futures together. Our mission is to celebrate our shared heritage while creating opportunities for artists to thrive and communities to unite through the power of film, food, music, and more.
PHLAFF has evolved into a nationally recognized platform, with recent highlights including six weeks of hybrid programming during our 2025 season. Our programming includes the activation of community spaces with screenings of groundbreaking works from all genres: short film, narrative, documentary, animation, emerging media and more. Our programs focus on offering community centered spaces in the Philadelphia region and beyond where content creators, storytellers, filmmakers, actors, producers and creatives can meet with other artists, engage with audiences to present and discuss innovative work and practices.
PHLAFF is committed to engage diverse communities through the execution of collaborative efforts rooted on making our offerings accessible. We collaborate with a diverse network to ensure that we can bring folks together through the universal language of film to create critical connections through shared experiences supporting cross-cultural understanding locally, regionally,nationally and internationally.

A través de una constelación de programas durante todo el año, PHLAFF promueve el diálogo intercultural, fomenta la narrativa inclusiva y contribuye a un panorama cultural más equitativo.

PHLAFF se ha convertido en una plataforma reconocida a nivel nacional, con destacados eventos recientes que incluyen seis semanas de programación híbrida durante nuestra temporada 2025. Nuestra programación incluye la activación de espacios comunitarios con proyecciones de obras innovadoras de todos los géneros: cortometraje, narrativa, documental, animación, medios emergentes y más. SUBMISSION CATEGORIES & AWARDS
This year, PHLAFF will be accepting submissions for the categories listed below, as well as the LOLA Awards and Youth Salon.
“Los Shorts Program” will choose a selection of short films to appear in one of the showcases as part of our festival season programs. This is the chance for filmmakers to show their work at PHLAFF, complementing the other segments of our program that are curated. “Los Shorts Program” films must be 29 minutes or less, should not be completed or premiered prior to 2024, and fall under the following categories:
• Animation
• Documentary
• Experimental
• Narrative
“Los Features Program” will choose a selection of feature films to appear in one of the showcases as part of our festival season programs. “Los Features Program” films must be 30 minutes or more should not be completed or premiered prior to 2024, and must fall under the following categories:
• Animation
• Documentary
• Experimental
• Narrative
“Los Especiales Program” will choose a selection of web series, AR/VR projects, music videos, digital media and any other emerging practices to appear in one of the showcases as part of our festival season programs. “Los Especiales Program” should not be completed or premiered prior to 2024, and fall under the following categories:
• Webseries
• AR/VR
• Music Videos
• Digital Media
• Any Other Emerging Practices
Please note that all non-English language works must have English subtitles at the time of submission at risk of disqualification. Laurels are only given out to Official Selections, Honorable Mentions, LOLA Award Winner(s), and Youth Salon Selections.
LOLA
PHLAFF’s LOLA Awards will recognize and honor cinematic achievements in filmmaking that brings together all of the elements that make for a great film, including direction, acting, cinematography, script/writing and storytelling. LOLA Award films should not be completed or premiered prior to 2024. FOR 2026, LOLA AWARD FILMS MUST HIGHLIGHT JOY AS A THEME.
LOLA Award winner(s) and Honorable Mentions short and feature films will receive an award plaque. Film(s) that receive the LOLA Award will also be incorporated as part of the programming of our 2026 edition. Honorable Mentions may be screened during the festival and/or during the year-round programming.
For the 2026 festival season, LOLA Award winners and Honorable Mention will be considered for any available opportunities to be showcased on Comcast Xfinity On Demand in 2026 and 2027 as part of our collaborative efforts with their team.
YOUTH SALON
PHLAFF's Youth Salon is open to youth under 22 years of age who identify as Latine/x/a/o who have at least one of the following roles in the making of the film; writer, actor, director, producer, or editor. Learn more about the Youth Salon: PHLAFF.org/submissions/youth-salon

LOLA
Los Premios LOLA de PHLAFF reconocerán y honrarán los logros cinematográficos en la realización de películas que reúnen todos los elementos que hacen una gran película, incluyendo dirección, actuación, cinematografía, guión/escritura y narración de cuentos. Las películas de LOLA no deben haber sido completadas o estrenadas previo al 2024. ** PARA 2026,LAS PELÍCULAS DE LOLA DEBEN DESTACAR EL TEMA DE ALEGRIA**
Los cortometrajes y largometrajes ganadores del premio LOLA y las Menciones Honoríficas recibirán una placa de premio. Las películas que reciban el Premio LOLA también serán incorporadas como parte de la programación de nuestra edición del 2026. Las Menciones Honoríficas serán proyectadas durante el festival y/o durante la programación durante todo el año.
Para la temporada de festivales 2026, los ganadores del Premio LOLA y la Mención de Honor también serán consideradas para ser presentadas en Comcast Xfinity On Demand en 2026 y 2027 como parte de nuestros esfuerzos colaborativos con su equipo.
YOUTH SALON
El Youth Salon de PHLAFF está abierto para jóvenes menores de 22 años que se identifican como Latine/x/a/o que ocupe al menos uno de los siguientes roles en la producción: escritor, actor, director, productor o editor. Las películas en español deben estar subtituladas. Las sumisiones para estudiantes y escuelas al Youth Salon abrirán más adelante.
