OUT OF THE FRAME – Marrakech Short Film Days is an independent short film festival initiated by Arab Media Lab in collaboration with Rooftop Films Marrakech. Conceived as a space for discovery and exchange, the festival is dedicated to young filmmakers and mixed-media artists at the early stages of their careers—those who move beyond conventional filmmaking to explore new cinematic languages, experimental forms, and bold ways of seeing.

Each edition brings together emerging voices from Morocco and abroad. This year, 19 short films have been selected to compete for Best Film, Best Direction, Best Script, and Best Cinematic Innovation. Rather than focusing solely on traditional narratives, Out of the Frame places the creative process at the heart of its programming—celebrating risk, research, and personal vision.

Entry is free, because we believe independent cinema thrives through accessibility, community, and the joy of gathering around the screen.

An original “Out of the Frame” trophy, designed in 3D and produced through innovative 3D printing, will be awarded to the winners.
It symbolizes moving beyond the frame, formal experimentation, and the dialogue between artistic creation and contemporary technologies.
