Out For Blood is a queer horror film festival based in Cambridge, UK
Out For Blood is a film festival which showcases some of the best work by LGBTQIA+ filmmakers from around the world.

After being tired of the same queer club scenes in our own community, and feeling like we didn’t quite fit in, we decided to create something new and alternative. We launched in 2018 to a sold out venue and we plan to keep getting bigger and better!

We’re tired of seeing tropes which reinforce the idea that queer people are nothing more than monsters in horror movies. We’re tired of queer characters being killed off as a plot device.

We want to see a diverse representation of queer identities on screen. We want to celebrate and promote the work of queer filmmakers. We want to create welcoming spaces where horror fans from all walks of life can come together to watch and discuss a variety of spookily creative films from the genre.

We understand that some filmmakers may not be in a situation where they can be ‘outed’ by their inclusion in a queer festival. Safety and wellbeing is a priority for us, and if needed, we can accommodate and ensure the complete anonymity of filmmakers. Filmmakers in this situation are encouraged to email us and we can assist: outforbloodcambridge@outlook.com

There will be an audience vote for the Best Film. Best Film will receive Best Film laurels and a published interview.

Before you submit your film, we have a few simple rules:

1) All films which are submitted, must have had a queer identifying person working on them. OR, the films must have at least one queer character or theme.

2) Anyone who illegitimately enters into one of the discounted entry categories (Womxn/Non-binary, BME) will be disqualified. If you have questions or are unsure about this, please email us at: outforbloodcambridge@outlook.com

3) All films must fall somewhere within the vast horror genre.

4) All films must either be in English or have English subtitles.

If your film is selected (congrats!) you will need to submit your film in mp4 format through a file transfer site (we recommend www.wetransfer.com)

Amazing festival with passionate and inclusive organizers. I was able to attend the sold-out screening with an engaged audience who love horror and camp as much as I do! Also proud to say our film won Audience Choice award!

Gutted that I couldn't make this one. But their communication was top notch, and their love of film and commitment to their audience shone through in everything they did. Looks like a really special event and one which hopefully will go from strength to strength!
