A new film festival has been launched "Othismos Film Festival".
The film festival has many updates and improvements
in all the stages of the festival.
A festival with no limits !
Back to engage a worldwide audience,
bringing together the best of the Mediterranean region and beyond.

"Othismos Film Festival" aims to promote and enhance the ancient and rich heritage of the Mediterranean Civilization through the visual arts, as an effective tool for comprehension and communication between cultures based on the conviction that diversity is a precious value.

The Festival aims to offer everyone the opportunity to express their vision of the world through movies and documentaries.

A special section will be dedicated to schools and university and to the documentaries produced by students as part of focused educational projects.

We are always open to listen feedback and comments,
we collected all the feedback and we understood that there was still
a lot to improve in our old film festival.
For this reason, after many months of design and development,
we launched a new management model of our event.

After many years of our old film festival called "Social Machinery Film Festival",
we decided to improve the whole management process and to end the old one.

Our team spent 3 weeks in Toronto from the 16 of July 2021 to the 7 of August 2021
to understand how to setup again all the screenings and events of the Final Award Event of the Edition 2020 of the Social Machinery Film Festival.
But unfortunately Canada was still only at the beginning of the opening of Covid-19 Emergency, in this time no turist were allowed to enter Canada, but only Canadian citizens.
I was able to travel to Toronto, because I am a Canadian citizen.
It was not possible to organize any kind of public screening in cinemas or theatres, because not allowed by Canadian Government Law.

Also the TIFF building in the Entertainment District was closed.

Then our team came back to Italy in August 2021, to check any possibilities for public screenings in cinema or theaters or other outiside public places, but the situation in Italy was worst and much more less controlled.

For this reason our team had to make the hard decision to switch the Final Award Event of the Edition 2020 into a online event before the end of the year.

Also the new Edition 2022 will be all digital, until the worldwide situation gets better.
We skipped the Edition 2021, because there was no reason to spend time and money.

We are trying our best to get out of this bad stressful situation.

The world changed at once and we still have to realise this;(

    Be careful with this “festival.”
    It is not a real film festival. It is run by an individual who behaves irrationally and unprofessionally.

    The films that are officially selected are not screened. Instead, he gathers a group of his acquaintances for a one-day event to collect money and create the illusion of an organized festival.

    I was announced as the winner of Best Film, yet the award was never delivered despite multiple follow-ups.

    Based on my direct experience, this is deceptive and unethical behavior, and I strongly believe filmmakers should avoid engaging with this organization.

    Response from festival:

    Mr Mazen,
    You were officially invited to come in Casa Bonus Pastor in Rome for the Award Gala Ceremony.
    I also called you a first time from my smartphone announcing that you made a great film and you were really happy to hear the news that you were invited to come to Rome.
    Our team still has your award.
    But then you started to ask our team to cover some costs.
    Our team was really embarrassed to hear a so called "famous film maker" asking money.
    You personally asked me to cover some expenses like flights, hotels, meals and other daily direct and indirect costs.

    I said that our policy is only Full Funded or Partially Funded, but not mandatory.

    Our team decided NOT to cover your flight and hotel.
    And this is the real reason, why you did not come.

    I prefer not to tell the full story you told us and the photos you sent (regarding you on the bed of a hospital).

    You sent on 28 November 2025 at 10:11 the following message:
    "I have been dealing with stomach problems for over a year, and unfortunately this week has been very difficult for me. I even missed my flight today because I wasn’t able to make it to the airport".

    Our team, received this message and we were very sorry to hear that, because you name was already scheduled in our ceremony programme.

    This film festival is managed by a big team (also included by some members of Bollywood), by Governments, Embassies and other non profit agencies.

    We have NO obligation to ship awards around the world, if the Winners on purpose do not come in person to our Award Ceremony.

    Our team missed your visit in Rome !

    We really appreciate your comment, because it shows that we really have selected and invited a lot of talented film makers around the world.

    Next time find a SPONSOR to cover your flight, hotel and meal costs.

    But I understand now you should have missed many toys since the times you were a child.
