We are delighted to announce the return of our popular annual Open Topic Short Film Contest! For the 3rd year in a row this contest has given writers an opportunity to flex their creative muscles without restraints. No wonder it is a favorite among our members! This is an open topic, open genre contest, so you are free to write about anything you want. Just be sure to read the contest rules and guidelines. Happy Writing!

Grand Prize - USD $1,000 + Option to be produced
2nd Prize - USD $500 + Option to be produced
3rd Prize - USD $250 + Option to be produced

Open genre and topic.

Duration: The short film must be 10 minutes or less, based on 1 page per minute.

Rating: Abide by a “R” rating. For clarification as to the various ratings, consult the MPAA guidelines:

Narrative: Fiction only, no documentaries or experimental films will be eligible.

Language: screenplay must be written in English.

Maximum number of submissions: Unlimited You may enter the contest with as many screenplays as you’d like. However, only completed screenplays will be considered.

Restrictions:

1. No previously produced material or adaptations.
2. The short film must be a new, original, unproduced work.
3. No CGI (computer effects)
4. No remote or difficult to reach locations, or federal or private attractions like The
Statue Of Liberty, Mt. Rushmore, The Empire St. Building, CN Tower, Eiffel Tower, famous museums, etc.
5. No nudity, or explicit sexual content
6. No using of trademarks that belong to other people or companies
7. No use of existing characters, songs, logos, brands, etc.
