Open Frame Galați is a Romanian festival dedicated to young creators and emerging voices in media, film, and visual storytelling. The festival encourages creativity, dialogue, and fresh perspectives, offering a platform for new talent and contemporary forms of expression.

Awards & Prizes

Awards include the Open Frame Galați Trophy for Best Project of the Festival, Best Fiction Short Film, Best Documentary Short Film, Best Animation / Motion Design, Best Video Essay / Experimental / Editing, and the Creator Solo (Smartphone Award). Special mentions may also be granted by the jury.

Rules & Terms

Open Frame Galați accepts media works created by young Romanian creators aged 14–35. Eligible formats include fiction short films, documentaries, animation/motion design, video essays, experimental/editing-based works, and mobile storytelling projects. Each participant may submit up to two works in total, with a maximum of one work per section.

By submitting, participants confirm that they hold all necessary rights for the submitted work, including music, images, performances, locations, and any third-party materials. Participants must also declare any use of generative AI. For minors, written parental/legal guardian consent is required.

Selected works may be screened publicly during the festival. The jury’s decisions are final. The organiser reserves the right to reject works that contain hate speech, discriminatory content, unauthorised copyrighted materials, non-consensual deepfakes/voice clones, or any content that may violate the rights of minors.

The deadline for international submissions is 22 April 2026. After this date, submitted works will no longer be considered by the jury. For national (Romanian) submissions, the regular deadline remains 30 April 2026.

    First and foremost, thank you for selecting The Liar as a Finalist for the Open Frame Galați. Being recognized as a finalist means a great deal to an emerging indie filmmaker like myself.

    However, the lack of responsive communication through followed up emails left me in a state of uncertainty regarding the next steps. I hope that in upcoming years, the festival can streamline its communication process to ensure a smoother experience for all entrants.
