Odds & Ends is an experimental film festival located in Charlottesville, Virginia. The festival will hold its second annual screening on April 6th, 2024 at the Vinegar Hill Theatre and will be presented by Light House Studio.

We seek films and videos that push formal and conceptual boundaries, allowing for multiple ways of understanding and interpretation. Our aim is to celebrate a diverse range of films that work across modes and genres, addressing the materiality of the medium from poetic, personal, or political perspectives. We welcome everyone, especially innovative works by emerging filmmakers that work outside of commercial structures.

Films should be 15:00 minutes or less, and completed after Jan. 1st, 2021. Submit your film by December 15th, 2023 (earlybird submission) or January 19, 2024 (regular submission).

There is a $10 earlybird deadline submission fee, and a $20 regular deadline submission fee. Please note: films over 15:00 minutes will not be considered for the program and will not be refunded.

To submit a film, please provide a password protected or unlisted private streaming link (YouTube, Vimeo, etc.). Your link and password should be available and valid until March 1st, 2024. We cannot accept DVD screening copies.

Odds & Ends will notify the contact person of the selected work by March 1st, 2024 to deliver text, images, and video material for print, internet and promotion. Selection results will be published on March 15th, 2024 on the festival website.

Films selected for the program should be available as downloadable digital MOV or MP4 files. We prefer files with a resolution of up to 1080p. 4K and 8K resolution files will not be able to screen in the festival program. Screening copies should arrive by Friday, March 15th, 2024 via WeTransfer, Google Drive, or Dropbox. Films that are not received by this date or that have technical difficulties may be unable to screen in the festival program. Selected works will receive a screening fee.

If at any point following its initial consideration, Odds & Ends determines that a submission no longer meets all the eligibility criteria described above, such submission will be deemed ineligible. Odds & Ends reserves the right to disqualify a submission, without refund of any kind, if eligibility requirements are not met.

If your project is accepted into the festival you must execute a release agreement wherein you (i) accept responsibility for obtaining any and all clearances necessary to exhibit and promote your project and any promotional materials provided by you in connection with Odds & Ends; (ii) warrant that you have the rights necessary for Odds & Ends to exhibit and promote your project and use any promotional materials provided by you in connection with Odds & Ends; and (iii) indemnify and hold harmless Odds & Ends, its parent company, its affiliates, and subsidiaries and any of their respective directors, officers, employees, and representatives against any claim arising out of exhibition and promotion of your project in connection with Odds & Ends.
