The Newark International Film Festival is a three day festival that showcases the innovation and breadth of the film industry. Located 15 minutes from New York, Newark IFF maximizes exposure for your film, screenplay or series by drawing film and entertainment leaders from both NYC and LA.

Events include:
--screenings at a number of cultural anchor institutions and outdoor screenings;
--stunt exhibitions;
--pitch opportunities and auditions for TV and film;
--acting, directing, producing and crowd funding workshops, and much more.

The festival provides a number of engaging experiences for attendees such as pop-up concerts from hip hop to jazz, house to gospel and more, as well as a televised awards and entertainment showcase and a film scavenger hunt.

The NIFF is the first international film festival hosted in Newark. A main feature of the NIFF is the Hannibal Goodwin Award for Innovation in Filmmaking in homage to Hannibal Goodwin, the Episcopal priest who invented celluloid film 1887 in Newark, NJ.

    Thank you for selecting my feature scripts, “Where Do The Children Play⁉️“, and, “Legal Roommates” as Official Selections in the Newark International Film Festival. This is such a GREAT HONOR, and, and, I am very HUMBLE by this, and, I don’t take this opportunity for granted. Again, thank you!!!

  • I am not usually one to write negative reviews, but I am extremely disappointed with my experience at the 2021 Newark International Film Festival.

    After I received the welcome email from Newark IFF notifying me and my team of our selection, we were very excited and responded with a handful of questions. In their initial email, Newark IFF informed us the festival would be half in person, half virtual--which is completely understandable given the circumstances surrounding COVID. However, they did not respond to ANY of our emails with questions regarding the structure of what this would look like, whether or not our film would be presented in person or online-only, and what date our film would be released.

    After we sent Newark IFF our film file and other requirements, they never confirmed receipt of these materials. After not hearing from them, I sent a couple rounds of follow-up emails and even left a message on their voicemail box--they never responded to any of these emails or phone calls.

    One week before the festival, Newark IFF sent a stock email to all participants informing us the schedule and full details would be released within the next day. They never followed up about this email, even after I sent them a reply a few days later urgently asking them if our film would be screened in person or online, and what date our film would be presented. Yet again, they did not respond.

    It wasn't until the FIRST NIGHT of the festival that Newark IFF sent a final email to all participants with the full details of the festival. It turned out that our film was going to be screened online-only and was going to be released online the following day.

    Because we did not know ANY details of this festival or our film's schedule within it, we had no way of properly promoting the film and festival to our friends, family, and followers. Because we received less than 12 hours notice of our film's online release date, we were unable to properly involve ourselves with the festival in a way that was worthwhile or involved. Because Newark IFF disregarded all of our questions and concerns, my team and I are left feeling devalued and disrespected.

    I completely understand that film festivals are going through a difficult time within the circumstances surrounding COVID, but the complete lack of communication from Newark IFF was very disheartening and disappointing. Ultimately, this whole experience turned out to be a waste of time and money, and I am regretful to say that I do NOT recommend submitting to the Newark International Film Festival.
