Nathan Weidner is a filmmaker and educator based in Columbus, Ohio, dedicated to crafting impactful stories and nurturing emerging talent in the film industry. With a background in French and Media Production education, Weidner has seamlessly integrated his teaching experience with his passion for filmmaking.
In 2022, Weidner founded PRAUS Media, a non-profit organization aimed at providing college film students with their initial experience working on feature films. Under his leadership, PRAUS Media has produced films such as "A Story for Winter" (2021) and "The Name of the Sun" (2022). These projects have offered invaluable hands-on experience to aspiring filmmakers.
Beyond PRAUS Media, Weidner established Outside Hollywood Movies, a production company that collaborates with Ohio artists to elevate the state's film industry. Their inaugural film, "Chasing Glamour," was released in 2023.
Weidner's personal experiences deeply influence his storytelling. His film "Reckless Mercy" (2024) is inspired by his journey of finding the ability to forgive after the tragic loss of his daughter in 2009. This narrative reflects his commitment to exploring themes of forgiveness and resilience.

Nathan's daughter, Meah, was murdered in 2009 just 3 months after he wrote "A Story For Winter" to honor children like her who have special needs. The prosecutor who tried her murderer was Trey Gowdy, and it was the last trial he prosecuted before going to serve as a US Congressman.
"A Story For Winter" was shot on the iPhone 12 with students from his high school, for a total budget of $3000.
