Nana Duffuor is a first generation Ghanaian filmmaker based in New York City. Her work thoughtfully blends heart and humor to explore themes at the intersection of the personal and political. She recently graduated with honors from Columbia University’s Film MFA Program, and has been a recipient of the Adrienne Shelley Foundation Award for Female Director, the New York Women in Film & Television Scholarship, The Bobby Kashif Cox Memorial Fellowship, and the Frameline Completion Fund.
In 2023, she made Columbia history as the first-ever student to direct an international short film in Ghana. Her film, Confirmation, premiered at the Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM), and went on to screen at festivals across the U.S. and abroad, including the Academy Award-qualifying Reel Sisters of the Diaspora Film Festival, where the film received Honorable Mention. Her graduate thesis short, Rainbow Girls, will premiere at Frameline, and its accompanying feature script is currently in development.
