Welcome to NEW YORK BRAZILIAN FILM FESTIVAL 2024

Our independent film festival accepts submissions of short films produced in Brazil and/or in any other country as long as the project contains at least one Brazilian cast or crew member.

The NYBRFF is dedicated to celebrating the art of Brazilian cinematography whilst also offering an international platform to promote the image of Brazil aboard in one of the most important cities of the art world.
Our objective is to encourage community involvement, bring Brazilian productions to the widest possible audience and to increase the reach of Brazilian films in the international market thus providing incentive and also nurturing a new generation of Brazilian filmmakers.

Our Second edition of the NYBRFF will live-screen short and feature films in New York City on November 9 and 10 of 2024 with the opening party on November 8 to a very diverse audience and special guests.

We would be honored to select and screen your production.

The short films are selected by the NYBRFF curators and will be screened during the festival before each of the invited feature films.

We were very impressed and gratified by the volume of strong submissions for our first year (September 2023) however, the high quality of the projects submitted made the process extremely competitive, and we weren't able to include all of the applicants we found promising. But have selected short films received the laurel and certificate even if was not possible to been at the official festival programming screening.
We hope that this second year we will have even more talented artists at our festival.

Bem-vindo ao NEW YORK BRAZILIAN FILM FESTIVAL!

O New York Brazilian Film Festival é um festival independente e aceitamos inscrições de curtas-metragens produzidas no Brasil e/ou em qualquer outro país desde que o projeto inclua a participação de ao menos um elenco ou membro da equipe seja de nacionalidade brasileira.

O NYBRFF se dedica a celebrar a arte da cinematografia brasileira e ao mesmo tempo oferece uma plataforma internacional para promover a imagem do Brasil no exterior em uma das mais importantes cidades para a arte no mundo, NY.
Nosso objetivo é incentivar o envolvimento da comunidade, levar as produções brasileiras ao maior público possível e aumentar o alcance dos filmes brasileiros no mercado internacional, assim, promovendo-os e nutrindo também a nova geração de filmmakers Brasileiros.

A nossa primeira edição foi realizada na cidade de Nova York nos dias 23 e 24 de Setembro de 2023 com uma festa de abertura no dia 22 para um público diversificado e também para convidados especiais da cena artística da cidade de NY e LA, expandindo o networking entre o Brasil e essas duas cidades que são marcadas diariamente pelo universo do cinema e arte em geral.

Cada curta-metragem selecionado pelos curadores da NYBRFF será exibido durante o festival antes de cada longa-metragem convidado.

Rules & Terms

English & Portuguese

1. The NYBRFF will only accept short films produced in Brazil and/or in any other country as long as the project contains at least one Brazilian cast or crew member.
2. Short films must not exceed 20 minutes in length, including credits.
3. Any short film that is not in English must have English subtitles.​
4. The NYBRFF admits any type/genre of film including narrative fiction, nonfiction, documentary, experimental film, animation or any other short-form film.
5. Short films have no premiere requirements or prior screening restrictions.
6. Rough cuts and works-in-progress are eligible for submission if the completed film will be ready by October 25th, 2024. Please label the screener 'Rough Cut' and specify what is missing in a Cover Letter after your submission.
7. Films must have been released on or after January 1, 2018.​
8. Filmmakers are welcome to attend the festival but NYBRFF will not provide any travel coverage/expenses.
9. Selected films will not receive any funds from the box-office which are fully retained by the festival to help cover for the overall cost of the festival.
1O. In order to submit a film, you must own the rights or have written and signed permission from the owner.
11. The filmmaker authorizes the use of the film's image in promotional material shared on our website and social networks indefinitely.
12. By submitting your film you agree and grant us permission that upon selection, your film will be screened at our Festival throughout the event dates listed.
13. All fees are non-refundable.

Short films submissions and participation in the NYBRFF, implies understanding and acceptance of the above regulations.​

1. A NYBRFF somente aceitará curtas-metragens produzidas no Brasil e/ou em qualquer outro país, desde que o projeto contenha pelo menos um elenco ou membro da equipe que de nacionalidade brasileira.
2. Os curtas-metragens não devem exceder 20 minutos de duração, incluindo os créditos.
3. Qualquer curta-metragem que não esteja em inglês deve ter legendas em inglês.
4. O NYBRFF admite qualquer tipo/gênero de filme, incluindo ficção narrativa, não-ficção, documentário, filme experimental, animação ou qualquer outro filme de curta-metragem.
5. Os curtas-metragens não têm requisitos de estréia ou restrições de exibição prévia.
6. "Rough Cut" e trabalhos em andamento são elegíveis para envio se o filme completo estiver pronto até 25 de Outubro de 2024. Identifique o arquivo como "Rough Cut" e especifique o que está faltando em sua "Cover Letter" após o envio.
7. Os filmes devem ter sido lançados em ou após 1º de janeiro de 2018.
8. Os cineastas são bem-vindos ao festival, mas a NYBRFF não fornecerá nenhuma despesa de viagem.
9. Os filmes selecionados não receberão nenhuma porcentagem da bilheteria, integralmente retida pelo festival para ajudar a cobrir os custos gerais do festival.
1O. Para enviar um filme, você deve possuir os direitos ou ter permissão por escrito e com a assinatura do proprietário da obra.
11. O cineasta autoriza o uso da imagem do filme em material promocional compartilhado em nosso site e redes sociais por tempo indeterminado.
12. Ao enviar seu filme, você concorda e nos concede permissão para que, após a seleção, seu filme seja exibido em nosso Festival durante as datas do evento listadas.
13. Todas as taxas não são reembolsáveis.

A submissão de curtas-metragens e a participação no NYBRFF, implica compreensão e aceitação dos regulamentos acima.

    Laura Barker and her team created a wonderful event and attracted excellent artists that I was humbled to join with my short film. The festival was well planned and the two days were simply filled with quality films in a beautiful venue. Just excellent. I would feel lucky to join them again.
