Museum of the Moving Image's Teen Council is excited to announce the annual Teen Film Festival, featuring short films—by you! If you’re between the ages of 13 and 19 and reside in any of the New York City boroughs, we encourage you to submit up to three short films. All genres are welcome!

Awards & Prizes

Selected Films will be screened at MoMI’s Redstone Theater on Friday, May 9, 2025, followed by a brief Q&A with filmmakers. 

Rules & Terms

- Applicants must be between 13 and 19.

- Films should be between 30 seconds and 10 minutes, including credits. 

- Each applicant can submit a maximum of three films produced after May 2023. 

- All films should feature original content.

- The applicant must reside in any borough of New York City.

- Films should be appropriate for all audiences (approximately PG-13).

- We strongly recommend that you triple-check your audio levels and that your audio is not limited to one channel. Any film that includes main dialogue that is not in English must be submitted with subtitles.

    Thank you for having us for your film festival! We brought our students to see their film and meet the other filmmakers. I was such a wonderful time. I would say it would’ve been great to have a mixer with all the filmmakers just so that way they could met each other before their screening in a way to provide true networking. Students need a push! Other than that it looked like everyone was having a great time! Looking forward to applying next year with our new students!
