Before Hollywood was even conceptualized and film was invented, 7th & Spring was the bustling hub and birthplace of the City of Los Angeles. Today, we continue the innovative spirit of our corner screening independent, nondependent, and fringe cinema.
A home for new voices, Movie House LA accepts submissions of both traditional media and AI. We encourage works in progress and experimental exhibition. If you - as a filmmaker - have an audience and are looking for a venue, we highly suggest you submit your work.
Our microcinema is FREE and OPEN Sundays 11am - 4pm. The more submissions we get, the more days we can be open!
We're open for rentals. We want to build and run more days of the week-- your submission will help grow our clubhouse and expand our LA Film Scene community.
Movie House LA is connected to The Circuit Alternative Distribution Network, a network of hundreds of microcinemas across America and the entire Earth fronted by Taylor Lewis of Luz Films and Jake S. Weisman of filmjourn. If your film plays well in Los Angeles, there may be a whole future for your film across the ocean. It’s the greatest non-dependent film project to date; billing ourselves as the connective tissue between filmmaker, venue, marketing, and audience. We want to see which cities play similarly, we want to see indie theaters and pop-ups thrive, and we want to bring your film to the audience you’ve earned through your tremendously hard work.
Movie House LA is a flagship and model for microcinemas around the world. Submissions will be included in a vast bank shared with our immense network. If your film plays well at Movie House LA, it will be shared with like-minded experimental exhibitors in cities like Portland OR, Charleston WV, Chicago IL-- as well as the UK, India, and Venezuela-- and ever growing.
The prize is allowing your piece to be seen by as wide an audience as possible without breaking your bank or selling your soul.
