Newark Moonlight Cinema, the first black owned drive-in movie theater, is hosting a film screening competition. We're offering independent filmmakers the opportunity to host a free screening of their film on the big screen! We have (2) 40-ft screen/theaters that holds 175 cars each. As film festivals are moving to virtual formats this is your opportunity to host a safe, covid friendly, in person screening of your film. The screenings will be hosted at Newark Moonlight Cinema on Tuesday Oct 26 with an inclement weather date of Weds Oct 27th.

Awards & Prizes

Entrants are competing for the chance to host a free screening of their movie at our beautiful outdoor theater. Two finalists will be selected for the in-person film screening and one of the two filmmakers will win the grand cash prize of $200.

Rules & Terms

- Your film MUST be at least 30 mins in length.

- Films MUST be the original work of the applicants. If a film is based upon another person’s life or upon a book or other underlying work, applicant(s) must secure any necessary rights to make such adaptations.

- Entrants MUST have proper license of all content, music and images portrayed in the film.

- If you have unlicensed content in your film you will be disqualified for the competition.

- Your film MUST be complete and ready for public screening. Proof of concepts or unfinished films will NOT be considered.

- Filmmaker MUST be able to attend film premiere
