24th MonFilmFest – Cinema Games Without Borders
Mombello Monferrato (AL), Italy & Everywhere | July 2 – July 11, 2026
Theme: "This land is my land" (Questa terra è la mia terra)

THE MISSION:
The search for new stories and new film talents through "a game" that defines and determines "a way of producing". Uniqueness and Characterization: MonFilmFest has maintained its roots as "cinema games without borders" in Monferrato, but has opened up to the world. In the regulations, we provide guidelines consistent with our past and start from the idea of telling stories from Monferrato about THE Planet in its multiple physical, anthropic, political, and economic aspects, with its evident environmental criticalities and its enduring beauties.
CINEMA GAMES are the tool to fulfill our mission:
SEVEN DAYS FOR A FILM is a game that tests the ability to produce a film in Seven Days, planning the story and the production plan, up to its first public screening. For 2026, SEVEN DAYS FOR A FILM will be divided into two proposals, focusing their attention on the territory from Monferrato, passing through "Il Bel Paese" (Italy) to the whole "Planet":
ON SITE → The game is reserved for all authors who will be invited to Mombello to produce a film in seven days from July 3rd to July 11th, 2026, as guests of MonFilmFest, and will set their films in Monferrato. MonFilmFest will guarantee hospitality, board, and lodging for 5 people. The crew must have their own vehicle for any travel and be equipped for filming and editing. Travel to and from the departure location is excluded.
OFF SITE → The game is reserved for all authors invited to produce a film in seven days, from July 3rd to July 11th, 2026, wherever they are or choose to shoot. Every day, participants must publish and share on their social channels (Facebook and/or Instagram) a sequence or a short story of the footage and the post-production phase of the day, tagging the official pages of MonFilmFest and using the hashtags: #MonFilmFest2026
#ComuneDiMombelloMonferrato #immagina #7giorniperunfilm #MFF24 #MFF2026 #questaterraèlamiaterra. The contents must be published every day between 1:00 PM and 7:00 PM.
The MonFilmFest staff will verify the posts daily to officially validate participation. Strict compliance with these deadlines is a necessary condition to access the production and participation prize.
At 7:30 PM, a video call meeting is scheduled between the authors and the staff to share work progress, discuss, and receive any communications.
To be invited to participate in both ON SITE and OFF SITE, authors must fill out the specific form at the link: https://forms.gle/DXdKXiLtstziDBza9 and fill out the mandatory "Motivational Letter" for the section they wish to participate in.
The simultaneity of the two sections ON SITE and OFF SITE allows us to move from a provincial vision to a cosmopolitan and, indeed, borderless vision, as the subtitle states. Alongside the traditional project of revitalizing Monferrato as a land of art, culture, history, architecture, wine, food, and a possible unique location for cinema beyond short films and open to the entire film world, there is a real disposition towards the rest of the world to place all the issues posed by the environment at the center of the project.
Many points of the Agenda 2030 are included in the MonFilmFest project, specifically highlighting:
Health and well-being: taken care of in all aspects, from hospitality to productive and inclusive models for all participants;
Quality education: all laboratory activities in schools and experimentation in dedicated areas that mark MonFilmFest not as an isolated event solely in the week of implementation;
Gender equality: practically always free access to the association's activities and, above all, total freedom of expression;
Responsible production and consumption: all production activities are carried out with low environmental impact with attention to Total CO2 emissions and waste recycling.
The festival headquarters in Mombello has an underfloor heating system powered by solar panels which also provide domestic hot water.
The 6 kwh photovoltaic system produces the electricity needed for all MonFilmFest activities; the surplus produced is fed into the grid, connected to several municipalities in a district that constitute an energy community.
Finally, all water, both drinking and sanitary, comes from a well fed by the underground aquifer, making the cinema citadel a true independent microcosm in energy production and consumption.
An attention to the Planet in its different aspects and the production of a story of its existence.
Partnerships for the goals. The municipalities, local tourist boards (pro-loco), and private companies that share the effort for sustainable development.
The engine of this revitalization is young people, whether students, beneficiaries of non-formal education and/or training, also for the purpose of unconventional and more entrepreneurial orientation.
VETRINA (SHOWCASE)
Presents a program of films to be screened during the festival week, after A SEARCH, A REDISCOVERY of ignored or forgotten films, produced after January 1st, 2024. The works have no constraints on genre, type, or duration. Vetrina is beyond genres for a total view of the international film landscape. The VOD (Video On Demand) platform Festhome TV will host the works and allow worldwide viewing of the films, subject to the author's registration on the dedicated MonFilmFest page. This digital showcase will be active in absolute preview from June 22nd to June 30th, 2026, allowing the international audience to view the works selected for the Yari Vetrina Prize before the start of residential activities.
REGISTRATION, UPLOAD AND SELECTION
Fees and Platforms.

However, since the collection of works takes place exclusively through external partner platforms (Festhome and FilmFreeway), it is necessary to cover the service costs requested by these portals. These amounts (upload fee or service fee) are collected directly and entirely by the platforms for technical file management and are independent of MonFilmFest's will.
