Michael Letcher is an independent documentary writer/director with the Tuscaloosa partnership Dragonfly Public Media. He is a former producer and production manager for the Center for Public Television at The University of Alabama. Past documentary credits include national PBS broadcasts of Tuskegee, Alabama: Living Black & White, on the Civil Rights Movement in his hometown; and God’s Will, about minister, author and civil rights activist, Will Campbell. Among other projects have been Coming To A Crossroads, about Hispanic immigration in Alabama; A Fair Hope, on the Alabama gulf coast town founded as a utopian experimental community; and
One & All, about diversity and student government at The University of Alabama.
Awards include a regional Emmys for Tuskegee, and In the Path of the Storms, a history of Bayou La Batre, Alabama. He also received an Emmy nomination for Conscience of a Congressman, about Alabama Rep. Carl Elliott.
