2021 was a wonderful year for us. We saw fans come back to the festival to enjoy a program of all original documentary films both long and short from around the world to even on our own backyard.

In year 3 we are confident we will once again offer an amazing event for both fans and filmmakers as we continue to build upon an already budding reputation as a "go to" festival in New England.

ALL FILMS MUST BE BASED ON A TRUE STORY OR REAL EVENT! PLEASE DO NOT SUBMIT ANY FILMS THAT ARE FICTIONAL WITH NO PERSONAL OR HISTORICAL NARRATIVE, THEY WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.

Once again, we will be screening the entirety of the festival at the historic Lincoln Theater where movies have been showing since the early 20th century on one of the largest screens in the state. The theater has recently gone through extensive renovations, seats over 200 people and sits smack dab in the middle of beautiful downtown Damariscotta.

Damariscotta is in the heart of MidCoast Maine, one hour from Portland and three hours from Boston. From its world-class oysters and brewpubs to its scenic coastline and with a thriving arts community it will seem like a place born to host a film festival.

Our submission fees remain affordable so filmmakers are given the opportunity to have their films considered regardless of their current financial situation.

You must fully comply with these Entry Rules & Regulations, including all deadlines, film length, entry material and other requirements.

Non-English language works must have English subtitles at the time submitted.

Do not submit your film until it is complete.

All films submitted may be used in promotion and marketing prior to and after the festival.

All filmmaker images may be used in promotion, publicity, and marketing prior to and after the film festival.

Once an entry payment has been processed we cannot provide a refund. If a payment is disputed, the account holder may be subject to any fees.

This a wonderful, grassroots film festival set in a gorgeous old theater with great projector and screen. They have a lively, engaged audience and the administration is warm, friendly, organized and professional. Highly recommended.

  • I was so please to be a part of MidCoast's inaugural festival! Matt and Andrew were gracious and welcoming and very accessible. There was a good turnout for my film (even though it screened on a beautiful Sunday afternoon) and there was good engagement from the audience during the Q&A (which Andrew moderated). And the Lincoln Theater is beautiful!

  • This festival is a treasure. The people who run it are organized, nice, responsive and helpful. The people who attended are smart and involved and thoughtful. It's a beautiful town - go especially if you can spend a few days - but even a short visit is a delight. It's a new festivals but it's going to have a long, full life.
