Michelle is a former Canadian photojournalist living in the UK and now moves between cinematography and directing short films in the UK.
Michelle's roots in visual arts began as a news photographer where she found her stregnth in documentary and portrait photography. Her work often focused on themes of community and cultural identity. Her intimate photographic style as a photojournalist has now evolved into narrative cinematography.
Michelle is now pushing her imagination, creativity and technical skills into both still and moving images. She gravitates to projects that blend truth and fiction that reflect her experiences as a mother and daughter to immigrant parents. The theme of home and identity resonate within her deeply.
She has worked as a Production Technican, Second Assistant Camera and Camera Trainee on HETV productions along while prioritizing short films and personal visual art projects.
Michelle maintains a long-standing love for analogue photography which now extends into her projects. She looks to collaborate with artists who create openly, with authenticity and with those who carefully consider the implications of their work.
