Michelle Colón is a multidisciplinary artist with a background in design and communications from Ponce, Puerto Rico. She completed her degree in design at Louisiana State University and New York University, where she discovered her passion for art as a means of advocacy. After moving back from New York to Louisiana to work with an architecture firm, Michelle started her own arts collective, Londri Room, an organization that produces art events, films and podcasts with a mission to highlight diversity in the arts, advocate for inclusivity and break traditional Southern paradigms. This mission has led her to expand her artistic horizons, making her an established film producer and actor in her region. Her film credits include Girl With A Gun, starring Disney Channel star Ronnie Hawk, and most recently, The Yacht, a major motion picture set to release in 2022. Within the past year, Michelle wrote and produced two short films, Arroz Con Pollo and El Cardenal, with the latter being featured in the social media campaign “Reclaiming Freedom Project” by Louisiana For Personal Freedoms, a campaign advocating for reproductive rights in Louisiana. While heavily involved in the film industry of her region, Michelle is also an established theater actor with her most recent roles including Maggie in Tennesse William’s play, Cat on A Hot Tin Roof and Velma Kelly in Chicago: The Musical. When not on the stage or acting for film, Michelle is singer-songwriter and recording artist. In February 2021, Michelle released her most recent project, a self-produced EP titled “Para Tí” under her solo artistic persona, Malentina, and which is available on all major streaming platforms. Her most recent project to complete is a visual album for her released EP, written and produced by her and set to premier September 2021.
