Michael James Parks is a Caucasian mixed Indian, born and raised in Singapore. He created two YouTube Channels and made 26 YouTube videos so far. In a true no-budget, guerrilla filmmaking style, he wrote, directed, acted, and edited most of his short films. One of his short films, Shave. has won Outstanding Achievement Award for The World Film Carnival - Singapore during Jan 2021 - Feb 2021.
He has juggled his full-time job as a 3D BIM Modeler and his passion in the entertainment industry. He even incorporates his passion into the full-time job such as joining a 2022 talent event named “JSG Got Talent” in the company. He directed, acted and edited a corporate video involving Gender Equality. He has able to achieve 2nd place for the event, competing with 11 other countries.
He has also done some voice over work for some projects. One of the short films that he is voice acted in, Deadline, has official selection for Montecatini International Film festival and Greece International Film festival. In 2023 he worked as an assistant director in Kino Red Dot’s first feature film where he collaborated with actors with disabilities.
The short films WeAreInvincible where he was an assistant director and actor won a runner-up prize at Iaminvisible film festival in 2023. Another short film, A Pause Is All You Need, won third place in the Pokka Film Festival in 2023. He was the main actor in that film. He has a certificate for creative writing in screenwriting from Lasalle College of Arts.
As a horror fanatic, his biggest inspirations are James Wan, Ari Aster and Sam Raimi. His inspirations are what got him to love and create horror films such as “Late Night Visit”, “Into the Forest”, “1_chris.mp4”, “Lift Hoarder” and others which are all directed, written and acted by him. He also has done some comedies such as “Under Deck: Episode 1”, “Litter Bug”, “Thinking out of the box” and others.
