From film school, to student films, to features, Michael Papaeleftheriou’s introduction to the world of filmmaking followed a traditional path.

The Covid lockdowns, however, marked a turning point, shifting his focus to writing and launching the development of his own directorial projects. This led to a transformative stint in Europe, where Michael immersed himself in writing communities and refined his skills in the often-overlooked craft of screenwriting.

Returning to Sydney with the screenplay for his most ambitious project to date, Crossroads where a dedicated team brought the film to life. Now poised for its release, it stands as a significant milestone in his career.

Currently based in Spain, Michael is channelling his experience into developing his first directorial feature, continuing to challenge himself as a storyteller and filmmaker.
