Melinda Matticoli (She/Her/Hers) is a dancer and choreographer from Skillman, New Jersey and is currently based out of New Jersey and New York City. As an emerging choreographer, Melinda has developed her own unique and creative style. Her work focuses on storytelling with gestural phrase work, influences of jazz technique, & an emphasis on musicality. Melinda’s choreographic process starts with developing an understanding of different textures and elements in her music to develop a storyline. She also collaborates with her dancers to allow space for them to add their own artistic identity and voice into her choreography. Melinda has received the opportunity to attend Broadway Dance Center's Inaugural
Choreography Program and recently had her work showcased through Breaking Boundaries Movement on Full Scholarship and at Broadway Dance Center's AIM Invitational in NYC. Her work also has been showcased at many national and international film festivals, as well as winning many awards for Best Dance Choreography including from New York International Film Awards and Oniros Film Awards. Melinda was selected as 1 of 4 choreographers to set work on Ballet 5:8's Summer Intensive this July in Chicago.
Melinda loves using improv in her class and choreographic process to develop new ways of movement and help express emotions. Recently, Melinda won first place in Breaking Boundaries Movement's Improvisation Competition and was the winner of Showcase Hub's New Year, New Moves Improvisation Contest.
