A film director, her work revolves around two central themes: Portuguese emigration and the voices of women. Her early works are part of what she calls the Emigration Cycle and address fragments of migration through observations, memories, times and archives. A feminist activist, she also develops various research projects and artistic works on cinema and women, particularly in the Portuguese context.
In 2023, she was one of the Portuguese filmmakers chosen to join the Cannes Directors' Fortnight programme The Factory. In October of the same year, she premiered her first feature film, As Melusinas à margem do rio (The Melusinas by the River), which won the HBO Max Award for Best Film in the Portuguese Competition, the Fernando Lopes Award for Best First Portuguese Feature Film and the ETIC Schools Award for Best Feature Film in the Portuguese Competition at Doclisboa. The film was screened at several national festivals and had its international premiere at FIDMarseille; it also received several awards and had its commercial premiere in Portuguese cinemas in June 2025. She is currently developing her second feature film, A Terra das Viúvas dos Vivos (The Land of the Widows of the Living), which already has the support of the ICA - Instituto do Cinema e Audiovisual (Portuguese Institute of Cinema and Audiovisual) and AGADIC - Agência Galega das Indústrias Culturais (Galician Agency for Cultural Industries). In 2024, she presented the project at Doclisboa Arché, where it received three awards: Special Jury Prize for Best Portuguese Project in Development, #LINK Encuentro Iberoamericano de Cine Documental Award for Best Portuguese Project in Development, and Impronta Award.
