Mayra Estrada is a 17-year old Mexican-American filmmaker. With an early interest in animation, Estrada is a self-taught stop-motion animator and makes stop-motion films in her bedroom. Her first stop-motion short, Peanut, was a part of SXSW's 2022 film festival. Her second stop-motion short, Leftover Lettuce, has screened at several film festivals and has been very well-received by audiences. In early 2023, Estrada won 2nd Place at the High School Showcase at the Pegasus Video Race for her short, Underground, which was completely created in 48 hours. And, while her stop-motion animation has made an impression, her skills are vast.
Estrada directs photoshoots; screen-writes; edits films, videos, and photographs; digitally illustrates; practices graphic design; and has numerous roles as a sports photographer, photo editor, and videographer for large events.
