Maxine Chester is a creative, research practitioner with a strong interest in materiality and process. She works in multi-sensory installation, performance, participatory methods, painting and drawing. Her work explores themes relating to life cycles, states of becoming and transformation within feminine identity and mothering practices. Chester has an MA in Fine Art, University for the Creative Arts, Kent and a BA in Fine Art, Leeds Beckett University. During her career she has exhibited widely, delivered conference papers, and facilitated creative workshops in range of settings. Until 2025 she was a tutor at the University for the Creative Arts at HE and PhD levels.
Maxine Chester grew up in Margate, Kent, UK and has been based in Kent for over twenty years where she continues support her family and pursue her creative career.
