Maurice O'Brien has directed critically-acclaimed, award-winning films for the BBC, Screen Ireland, Guardian Documentaries, RTE, Channel 4/Discovery, and Creative Scotland.

His debut feature ‘The Artist and the Wall of Death’, supported by Screen Ireland and Screen Scotland, was nominated for ‘Best Feature Doc’ at the 2023 Irish Film and TV Awards.

His short films 'Buffalo Dreams' (2015) and 'Hey Ronnie Reagan' (2017) have screened at Tribeca, Full Frame, Fastnet, Newport, Dallas, Sydney, Helsinki, Hot Springs, Glasgow, Galway, Dublin, Cork Films Fests.

‘Chasing the Light’ is his second feature and was 6 years in the making. It had its premier at Cork Film Festival in November 2024 where it was in competition for Best Irish Film, and it will have its international premier at Thessaloniki Film Festival in March 2025.
