Tara Charoenkhate (born 2000, Bangkok) is a filmmaker recognized for his distinctive voice and authentic, naturalistic storytelling. He graduated from the Faculty of Information and Communication Technology, majoring in Film within the Communication Arts program at Silpakorn University.

His graduation short film, One Way Ticket (2024), was selected for the “NEW WAVE POLITICS” program at the Microwave Film Festival, part of Pakk Taii Design Week in Songkhla. The film went on to screen at more than ten festivals across Thailand and earned him the Best Director Award at the LUMINA Film Festival Bangkok Thailand.

In 2025, Tara participated in the “Thai Short Film Lab,” organized by the Thai Film Foundation in collaboration with the Thai Film Archive in Pattaya. He was also selected for “Through the Lens of Rivers,” a directing and acting workshop held in Chiang Rai. These programs expanded his creative practice, strengthening his sensitivity to performance, place, and visual language.

Tara’s work often explores the lives of children growing up in a temple beside Thailand’s Parliament House, urban subcultures, and overlooked individuals in contemporary Thai society. He is known for a playful yet precise storytelling style, blending humor with a sharp directorial approach. His naturalistic method in directing and screenwriting reveals subtle emotional depths within everyday life.

Currently, Tara works as an independent filmmaker and behind-the-scenes photographer. He is developing his short film project, Young Man, a drama-comedy anti-war piece, which has received support from the Purin Film Fund in 2025. The project was selected and funded by the Film Archive (Public Organisation) of Thailand to participate in the Short Film Corner | Rendez-vous Industry at Cannes Film Festival 2026.
