Mattia Piccioli is an Italian director, a graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Carrara with a strong interest in stories of migration, identity, and intercultural connections. Teranga, his first medium-length documentary, was born from a meeting with Samba and a desire to share his experience between Senegal and Italy. Through an immersive approach and his own narrative voice, Mattia constructs narratives that combine observation, personal reflection, and authenticity, capturing encounters, gestures, and atmospheres that connect different cultures. His work explores how human connections can transform individual stories into universal narratives. His previous short films have received attention at international festivals: "Shake Before Use" was selected for the Pebbles Underground Film and Video Art Festival and AJR VISION Cinema Indipendente, while other works have received an honorable mention at the Onirica Film Festival and an official selection at the NanoCon International Film Festival (NIFF), consolidating his expertise in audiovisual storytelling.
