My name is Matthieu Chinchole, I am 26 years old and I am currently studying filmmaking at ENSAV (École Nationale Supérieure d'Audiovisuel). My journey into cinema was shaped by
a sense of something missing. From a very young age, I wrote short stories, but I felt the need to transcribe them visually. My first step was to turn to photography, but I still felt something was missing: the absence of sound creation. Little by little, I gravitated towards cinema, because the 7th art, from my point of view, brings together a set of disciplines that allow for unique expression. Over the years, my attraction to image work has continued to grow. Light, in particular, obsesses me; it is the vehicle that allows me to create the worlds and characters that populate my imagination. I have also participated in numerous student short films as director of photography and chief electrician.
What fascinates me about cinema is its ability to distort and bend reality according to our desires. For me, imagination has always been a means of escaping a reality that can sometimes be too burdensome. My sensitivity as a film lover focuses on the encounter between opposites: gentleness and violence, silence and brutality, contemplation and rhythmic intensity.
