With a master’s degree in social anthropology from the École des Hautes études en sciences sociales (EHESS, Paris), Mathieu Gari previously worked as an editor for a publishing house specializing in social criticism. He made his debut in cinema in 2012 after participating in a workshop led by director Diego Vega (a Cannes Film Festival award winner) at the Catalonia School of Film in Barcelona. In 2013, he directed a medium-length film produced in Spain, followed by two self-produced feature films in 2016 and 2017, both of which were released in theaters in France.
Rando marks his first venture into comedy. It is also his first film produced in France under his new production company, Los Chicos, which aims to support other filmmakers in short formats (fiction, creative documentaries, and animated movies).
