Born in Bogota, Colombia; Mateo Vengoechea is known for capturing reality in both scripted and documentary format. His directing style is based on Judith Weston's teachings and his knack for documentaries comes from excelling as an interviewer at a young age. His directing career began in 2010 when he was chosen to be a writer/director by his university's school and faculty after submitting an original script for consideration.
Later, his independent documentary "Art Vessel" was purchased by PBS and subsequently won a Regional Suncoast Emmy. After 5 years of working as an Associate Producer with NBCUniversal Hispanic Enterprises Telemundo Sports, the Colombian filmmaker is freelancing for Telemundo Studios as a scriptwriter and finishing his latest film, "Anew".
