“My burden is giving free and clear voice to voiceless women in the world”
Maryam Zahirimehr, director, writer, photographer, and producer, is a native of Iran residing in the USA. Her enthusiasm for photography, cinematography, and painting led her to pursue academic education and ended up receiving her Master of Fine Art from Lesley University, USA.
Her accomplishment as a writer-director-producer, is displayed in her first feature film, “Endless?”. The movie received numerous prestigious film festivals awards and official selections around the world. She is currently in post-production on her second feature film, “Forbidden Womanhood” which is about child ignorance/harassment. Maryam’s storytelling style resembles that of Garcia Lorca as he envisioned The House Of Bernarda Alba. To Lorca, the central question that he embedded through the play was his full understanding that women’s lives were full of injustice and of fragility.
The majority of Maryam’s films focused on women’s violence, ignorance, and social issues. She emphasizes expressing her stories in a specific artistic, poetic, and metaphorical way. She believes that her burden is giving a clear voice to voiceless women around the world via art.
