Partnering with NGOs and ethical organisations, I create short films addressing social, cultural, and environmental issues. My work prioritises purposeful storytelling with the hope of raising awareness and motivating positive change.
Mark McEvoy is an accomplished filmmaker, photographer, and educator with a career spanning over 40 years. During the 1990s, he established himself as a reportage photographer, traveling extensively throughout India and the Far East, while producing photo essays for The Independent on Sunday and The Independent on Saturday magazine. For the past 25 years, Mark has specialized in short-form video storytelling, mastering the roles of director, cinematographer, and editor. His portfolio includes promotional and fundraising films for a diverse range of international clients, including Tree Aid, Variety, Refugee Community Kitchen and University College, as well as international schools in Washington, Milan, Vienna, and Munich. His creative versatility also extends to music videos and fine art installation films. In 2009, Mark co-developed the app Melodala, which led to the first-ever iPad installation staged at Tate Britain. His photographic excellence has been recognized by the National Portrait Gallery, where he was a finalist for the Taylor Wessing Photographic Portrait Prize in both 2012 and 2019. As an educator, Mark lectured on the BA Photography course at Middlesex University (2010–2021) and continues to work as an art facilitator for organizations supporting vulnerable youth. He is currently directing The Jefferson Street Poet, a documentary following the life of Nashville-based poet James Floyd. They also collaborated on a book together, Random Impulses a collection of Mark’s photographs paired with Floyd’s poetry. His most recent film work explores the social urgency of removing smartphones from schools.
