Mario Barsony is a filmmaker and cinematographer based in Cork, Ireland. Originally from Hungary, he has spent several years working in film production, contributing to commercial projects and productions for well-known brands.
While working on large-scale commercial productions, he realized that what truly drives him is storytelling — creating films that carry a personal vision and emotional weight.
Barsony’s work focuses on visually driven storytelling and intimate human stories that explore memory, loss, and the complexity of human relationships.
His documentary Get Up the Yard screened at multiple international festivals and received awards including Best Short Documentary at the Indian Independent Film Festival and the Audience Award at the ÉCU European Independent Film Festival.
His latest short film, Between Us, represents a deeply personal project that lived in his mind for nearly six years before finally coming to life.
