Maria Clara Laet is a tap dancer, teacher and choreographer based in São Paulo, Brazil. Maria Clara works as a full-time tap dancer by teaching online classes and dancing at jazz clubs in São Paulo. Clara’s creations revolve heavily around music and history due to her experience working with musicians and her time at University of São Paulo, where she graduated as a historian. Luvemba, her first dance film, was conceptualized as a way to cope with her grandfather’s death, who passed due to Covid19 complications. The video has been nominated for Best Dance Video at Rio WebFest and has been selected to other 3 festivals so far. Her dream is to continue working alongside professionals from the music and film industry and to bring tap to the spotlight on many different fields.
