I, Marco Ashley Dixon am not a person who was thought to achieve the status in film that I now hold. Born with epilepsy and cerebral palsy who would think I'd be able to create films like this?
As I recorded raw action with my eyes, I converted concepts and scenarios of my stories to visual content. Creating film has been my inspiration as I was exposed to it since I was six months old in 1987. I announced, to my father at the age of four in 1991, that the profession I want to uphold and aim to be is a director, producer, and cinematographer like Spielberg, Scorsese, Nolan, Lucas and even Tarantino.
I've worked on many sets shifting as a background actor, lighting and grip attendee and a location or PA crew member. My intuition emerged in becoming a director. Throughout my teen years, I was involved in many film camps and continued to work on industry sets until I took university training in 2007 at Capilano University in North Vancouver, BC Canada. Over sixteen years I earned a Certificate in Cinematography in 2011, A Bachelor's Degree in Performing Arts in 2021, an Associate's Degree in Creative Writing in 2022 and a second Bachelor's Degree in Motion Picture Arts.
Now holding the full triangle of cinema in creating a story, performing the role and producing a film, I have experience in positions as a producer, director, Cinematographer/DOP, writer and film/sound/VFX editor on the plate of production and turn into character as the performing act when a role comes my way.
