Manchester Short Film Festival is situated within the heart of Manchester, we crave and we seek to show the exciting talent of filmmakers emerging within today. Manchester has always been a city that champions it’s radical, experimental and pioneering artists of all mediums, all we want to do is carry on that tradition.

We LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, filmmakers who have a style, a story to tell, and unique vision. Films that are artistically brave, challenging and seek to open new horizons are the films we champion here at MSFF. If any of the above is applicable to your film, submit and submit away!

One big thing our film festival loves above all else is FEEDBACK, we understand that you as a filmmaker may want to know why a film works, and why it doesn't, our team will endeavour to see that submissions receive feedback.

Our judges will review over the films submitted in question, rating highly on merit, filmmaking competency and artistic bravery.

Submissions are open to short form of every genre - including fiction, comedy, horror, sci-fi, documentary etc, we welcome any work within the medium.

Films must no longer be more than 20 minutes.

Materials Required:
Original version of films (English subtitles if in another language).
Films submitted via FilmFreeway or Vimeo link.

NOTIFICATION DATE IS 22ND OF OCTOBER:
You will be notified if your film has been selected on the notification date of the 22nd of October 2024

Eligibility:
Projects completed from January 1, 2023.
Short Films: No premiere status required

Catalogue and Press Material:
Submit synopses, cast and credits, director biography and filmography, promotional images, and a director’s comment within 10 days after the regular deadline.
Promotion:
Use the official MSFF logo in all promotional activities.
Hospitality:

MSFF provides coverage during the festival.
Usage Rights:

Submitters must hold all necessary rights for the film's festival use as the festival is not liable for any damages that may incur as a result of copyrighted use.
Films that have failed to secure the correct copyright will be denied selection.
