I love stories. That’s why I became an actress, and later on, a writer and stage director. I didn’t go to film school. I learned by watching people work on set, asking a gazillion questions and combing through tutos and making of videos on YouTube.
Malena PERROT is a French actress, writer and director who currently lives in Paris. She graduated from Washington University in St.Louis, MO (USA) and the Ecole Normale Supérieure Lettres et Science Humaines, with a double Master in French and English Literature. Upon graduation, she turned towards arts and has been working as an actress in TV, Film, Theater, Dubbing and corporate productions since then.Telling a story is among the things she likes most, be it on stage, in front or behind the camera. She directed several plays, including Brecht’s Great Fear and Misery of the Third Reich, and an adaptation of Rayond Queneau's Zazie in the metro and is currently working on her next one, The Last Syrian, based on a novel written by Omar Youssef Souleimane, a young journalist and poet from Syria, with whom she co-wrote the play. The story is set during the Arab Spring of 2011 and shows a group of students fighting for democracy and freedom in the early days of the Syrian revolution against Bachar Al-Assad. Although she had a first experience behond the camera for the Nikon folm festival, she considers ROTOR to be her first short film as a director. It is a thriller based on a script written by Paolo Palermo, which approaches the topic of schizophrenia.
