Submissions to the festival are carefully evaluated by a jury composed of professionals from various related fields, including filmmaking, arts, and media. In addition, external members appointed by the festival contribute to the judging process, ensuring a diverse and inclusive perspective. Among these external members are representatives from social organizations affiliated with the Xinergie association, bringing unique insights into the evaluation criteria.

Winners in each category will receive an official certificate recognizing their achievements. Certificates will be sent individually by email 1 to 2 days after the FilmFreeway notification. Moreover, winning films will be eligible for exclusive on-location screenings as part of the festival’s programming. The awards ceremony will take place in person, offering a celebratory moment for filmmakers and audiences to connect and engage in meaningful dialogue about the winning works.

Rules for Film Submissions

1. Short Films: A short film is defined as any film with a runtime under 40 minutes.
2. Feature Films: A feature film is defined as any film with a runtime over 40 minutes.
3. Language and Subtitles:
* Films in all languages are welcome.
* Non-English and non-Italian films must include subtitles in either English or Italian.
* Subtitles must be clear, accurate, and appropriately timed to ensure accessibility for the audience.
4. Rights and Permissions:
* Filmmakers must ensure they hold the necessary rights to all material submitted, including music, visuals, and any third-party content used in the film.
* Any submissions found to violate copyright laws may be disqualified.
5. Multiple Entries and Categories:
* Filmmakers may submit multiple films for consideration.
* Each film can be entered in multiple categories, provided it meets the specific criteria for each category.
6. Screening Permissions:
* Films will not be screened without the express written permission of the filmmakers.
* By submitting a film, filmmakers grant the festival permission to use clips, trailers, and stills for promotional purposes.
7. Screening Schedule:
* Long films and documentaries may be scheduled for screening during non-peak times (usually in the afternoon rather than the evening).
* The festival will strive to accommodate preferences but reserves the right to determine the final screening schedule.
8. Winners and Screenings:
* All winning films are eligible for screening at the festival.
* Winners may also be featured in promotional events, retrospectives, or encore screenings organized by the festival.
9. Screening Format (before the screening at events):
* All submissions must be in a high-quality digital format (e.g., MP4, MOV) suitable for large-scale projection.
* Films with incomplete files, low resolution, or technical errors may not be considered.
