I'm an actor, writer, educator, and science advocate. Growing up a tomboy by nature and a poet at heart, I was struck by the difficulty I had in connecting with my gender identity, in a time when "fluidity" wasn't part of the conversation.
For 25+ years in the industry, messaging about femininity continued to confound me: I was told I was too ambiguously-ethnic (i.e. too Jewish-featured) and not quite feminine-perfect enough to succeed on screen...and that of course, I should stick with comedy, where "weird" girls could have their day.
I moved to LA after NYC to gain the space and sunshine to tell strange, semi-serious stories about well-meaning weirdos--like me.
