The MISE (Moving Image and Sound Exhibition) festival is a Nottingham-based film festival that celebrates innovative approaches to moving image and sound, exploring the interception of experimental and narrative filmmaking within, drama, comedy and more.

The festival is curated by MA Filmmaking students from the School of Art & Design at Nottingham Trent University. A course at the forefront of the film industry, celebrating critical thinking, experimentation, and technological innovation.

The best of each category will receive a designed MISE award, with honourable mentions for close runner-ups.

- Filmmakers must be 18+.
- You may submit one entry per category.
- Each entry must be between 2 and 10 minutes.
- Your submission must not exceed a typical BBFC 15 rating. (This does not need to be an official BBFC rating)

FINAL SUBMISSION DATE
Submissions will open on 1st February 2026 at 00:00 GMT and close on 06th April 2026 at 00:00 GMT.

Submitting to this festival does not guarantee you will be selected to screen; curation and programming are at the sole discretion of the MISE Festival Curators.

PREMIERE STATUS
We consider any work completed after 31st December 2023, including projects previously screened and published (e.g. YouTube, Vimeo etc.)

FORMATS
We screen DCPs and will accept other common digital formats. Please work with us to ensure your work is displayed in the best way possible.

SUBTITLES
For international entries - if your entry contains spoken dialogue not in English, we require you to supply English subtitles either encoded on a DCP or provided for the submission screener on Film Freeway.

AI POLICY
The MISE Film Festival will accept AI-assisted and AI-generated works. However, the festival holds the position that all AI-generated works (GenAi) must meet a standard of creative quality comparable to that of traditionally created work.

We require that AI use be declared upon submission, and please note that AI use will be stated in a disclaimer when the submission is screened at the festival.

The determination of this standard will be at the sole discretion of our head curators. Ultimately, decisions on AI use will be made by the festival coordinator.
