MEGA International Creative Media Festival

The 3rd MEGA International Creative Media Festival is initiated by the Academy of Film and Creative Technology, Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University, and will be held from May 12 to 18 in Suzhou, Jiangsu Province, China.

MEGA is an integrated concept of media, exhibition, graphics, and arts. MEGA International Creative Media Festival focuses on the diverse forms of creative media communication and carries out activities combining different forms, including the competition, exhibition of digital media arts, and summit. MEGA International Creative Media Festival aims to explore the trends of film, television, and new media arts, and enhance communications between students and relevant industry professionals.

The 2nd MEGA International Creative Media Festival opened the creative media competition unit, hoping to attract students from domestic and other countries to participate in the MEGA through the competition, gather their excellent works, observe, learn and exchange with each other. The first MEGA competition unit, under the active organization of the Student Organizing Committee, attracted the participation of 69 colleges and universities from China and abroad, in the forms of feature films, documentaries, experimental films, MVs, variety shows, games, VR, installation arts, etc. It shows the diversity of media forms and the creativity and creative thinking of students.

In this competition unit, we invited industry’s most prestigious experts in various fields to conduct the final review. They have high evaluations on the theme, creativity and production skills of the entries. The Opening Ceremony and Award Ceremony of the 2nd International Creative Media Festival, which was broadcast on NetEase News live stream, attracted the attention of all parties, and more than 1.6 million people to participate the event.

In addition, the 2nd MEGA International Creative Media Festival also held an online exhibition of shortlisted works, an exhibition of XJTLU graduates’ works, a digital media arts exhibition, and the 2nd Film, New Media and Creative Technology Summit. Among them, the summit is a dialogue between the industry and academia, experts and scholars, summarizing the current industry development and analyzing future trends. The theme of this year’s summit is “Challenges and Transformation of the Industry under the Pandemic”, which was broadcast on the NetEase news live stream platform, attracting more than 1.8 million viewers to participate online.
