Welcome to the Luru Screen Dance Festival - a festival dedicated to the art of screendance, where movement meets cinema in bold, innovative, and boundary-pushing ways. Based in Bangalore, India, Luru brings together filmmakers, choreographers, dancers, visual artists, and interdisciplinary creators from across the world to celebrate storytelling through the moving body and the moving image.
The festival serves as a platform for emerging and established artists who explore the intersection of dance, film, performance, technology, and experimental visual language. From intimate movement narratives to large-scale cinematic explorations, Luru Screen Dance Festival champions works that challenge conventional forms and expand the possibilities of both dance and film.
As a first-time launch on FilmFreeway, we are excited to invite global submissions that embody originality, artistic risk, cultural diversity, and contemporary perspectives in screendance. Through screenings, artist interactions, workshops, and international collaborations, Luru aims to build a vibrant community around movement-based cinema in South Asia and beyond.
We welcome films of all genres, styles, and approaches that engage with movement as a central element of the cinematic experience.
