Luis Quijano is a Mexican filmmaker born in Mérida, Yucatán, currently based in Los Angeles. Since 2015, he has produced, written and directed narrative films and commercials both in Mexico and in the United States. He founded Balché Films, a film production company focused in telling culturally driven stories that explore fear, belief and social norms, commonly led by Latin-American characters within the horror genre.
In addition, he is an alumni of the Tomorrow's Filmmakers Today Fellowship presented by HBO & the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, a recipient of the NALIP emerging content creator scholarship and he screened his short film "Caminante, Caminante: La Leyenda del Huay Chivo" at the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts & Sciences for the "Hispanic & Latinx Cinema" event presented by New Filmmakers Los Angeles, among other film festivals around the world.
He's also directed episodes of the webseries Love XO & Original Funko's Pop Around the World as well as music videos with Mexican artist Mo Rivas. Currently, he's in post production of his short film "Caviar Star" starring Alice Marcone and Marco Pigossi, and just completed his short film "Avem".
