A graduate of the Manhattan School of Music with a Master of Music in Composition, Luis has made a significant mark in the world of contemporary music through his innovative compositions and performances.
Luis’s musical journey began at the Berklee College of Music, where he earned dual Bachelor’s degrees in Composition and Contemporary Writing. During his time at Berklee, he distinguished himself as a core music tutor, teaching courses in theory, harmony, ear training, keyboards, and songwriting. His dedication to education continued through his freelance work, where he has mentored students in guitar, composition, improvisation, and music theory.
As a performer, Luis has graced some of the most prestigious stages, including Carnegie Hall and the Williamsburg Music Center. His versatility as a musician is evident in his ability to seamlessly transition between guitar, bass, and keyboards, both in live performances and studio recordings. Notably, his work on the album Bachata Jazz (2022) showcases his ability to blend genres and create music that resonates with diverse audiences.
Luis’s contributions to the music community extend beyond performance. He is the founder and president of The Institute for Music Evolution (I.M.E.), a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting critical artistic thinking and community engagement. Through public concerts, festivals, and educational initiatives, I.M.E. aims to challenge traditional approaches to art and foster positive transformations for both artists and audiences.
Throughout his career, Luis has been recognized for his exceptional talent and dedication to his craft.
