Luca Perito grew up in Somers, New York, about an hour north of Manhattan. After gaining the freshman 25 and a stellar GPA of 2.4 during his first semester of college, he decided to make a change. During the second semester, he stayed in every night, studying, working out, and watching movies. His film education began that semester. Subsequently, his GPA went up to 3.9, and his weight dropped from 215lbs to 175lbs. After taking an acting class as a sophomore, he knew what he wanted to do. He tried to drop out of college and move to Los Angeles to start his career as a 20-year-old, but his parents convinced him to finish college first. Eight months after graduating from Salisbury University (Maryland), he packed his car and drove to Los Angeles.
After a year of getting situated, he found his West Coast home at Stuart Rogers Studio. During his nine years in Los Angeles, he wrote screenplays, plays, and pilots, directed short films and web series, auditioned for over 200 commercials, tried and failed repeatedly to get good representation for acting, was a production assistant on Larry King Now, studied acting at Stuart Rogers Studio, and, most importantly, bartended. It was an exhausting decade that ended with the pandemic. When the pandemic hit, he drove across the country to stay with family for an undetermined time. After saving money to move out and get an apartment in New York, he decided to do something different this time and make his first film, Ciao, Mama.
